Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden of Rostov-on-Don is located to the north-west of the railway station and the central park named after. Gorky.

The idea of creating the Botanical Garden arose in 1915, but his organization became possible only under Soviet power. The site in the area of the Temernik River was isolated in 1927, and in 1933 its area from 74 ha was increased to 259 hectares. Since 1928, the garden has been used as an educational research institute of the Southern Federal University (formerly the North Caucasus State University). For the years of its existence, the Rostov Botanical Garden has established itself as a major educational, cultural and information center.
